About the course:

Join me, Nici Le Gear, an emerging landscape artist from the west of Ireland, for an immersive 6-week landscape painting course on a Wednesday evening. Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced painter, this course is designed to guide you through the process of creating a complete landscape painting from start to finish.

Finish off your week with 2 hours of relaxing painting me time, I’ll be there to guide you and answer any questions.

Each class is 2 hours long, providing hands-on instruction to help you develop your skills and confidence in landscape painting. Over 12 hours of guided studio time, you’ll learn essential techniques like composition, layering, and refining details, with the opportunity to create a finished piece you’ll be proud to display.

Landscape Painting course details:

• Dates: Feb 12th  – Mar 19th 2025, weeks 1 through 6.
• Time: 7 to 9pm (2 hours per session)
• Location: Upstairs, By Design – a Local Story, Castletroy Shopping Centre.
• Duration: 6 weeks (12 hours total)
• Cost:
  • €20 per class when booked as a full course (€120 total)
  • €30 per class for pay-as-you-go attendance
• Max Capacity: 10 students

What you’ll learn:

• Composition and planning a landscape
• Colour mixing and brush techniques
• Creating depth and atmosphere
• Painting natural elements like trees, water, and sky
• Refining details and finishing touches

Each week we will focus on a different aspect of the painting, allowing you to work step-by-step toward a fully realised landscape. You’ll also have the opportunity to develop your unique style as you gain more confidence with your materials and techniques.

Who is this Landscape painting course for?

• Beginners: No prior experience is required, and you’ll be guided through the process at a comfortable pace.
• Intermediate Painters: Looking to refine your skills and learn new techniques? This course will help you take your landscape painting to the next level.

Materials:

I will supply the paint & canvases / canvas boards.

What do you need to bring

• A sketch book and pencil
• An apron / wear old cloths in order to protect your clothes
• A drink
• If you have a painting that you want to finish /amend please bring it along.
• A reference photo / painting to work from as inspiration for your painting.

How to book:

• Full Course: €120 total for all 6 classes.
  • Week 1: Feb 12th
  • Week 2: Feb 19th
  • Week 3: Feb 26th
  • Week 4: Mar 5th
  • Week 5: Mar 12th
  • Week 6: Mar 19th
• Pay-as-You-Go: €30 per class.

A: Yes! You can choose the pay-as-you-go option, though full-course bookings are encouraged for better continuity and learning.

Q: What materials do I need?
A: A sketch book and pencil, a drink, an apron / old clothes. I will supply canvas, and paints, and brushes, but if you have a favourite palette/ set of brushes please bring them along.
