Weekly Adult Painting Classes
Ever look at a gorgeous photo on your phone and wish you could actually paint it – without it turning into a muddy mess?
Join me, Nici Le Gear, for 2 hours a week of dedicated “me time” in Castletroy. Together, we’ll take that photo or idea sitting in your head and turn it into a finished landscape canvas you’ll be proud to hang on your wall.
Whether you’ve never touched a paint brush before or you’re looking to refine your technique, this 6-week course gives you the hands-on guidance, practical tools, and quiet studio space to paint with total confidence.

- Location: By Design, A Local Story, upstairs in the gallery. Situated in Castletroy Town centre – beside Supervalu.
- Dates: Wednesday Evenings | Sept 16th – Oct 28th (6 Weeks) – NO CLASS OCT 21st.
- Time: 7 to 9pm
- Materials: All quality paints, brushes, and surfaces provided
- Class Size: Small group settings for personalised instruction, maximum 12 students
Why This Isn’t Your Standard “Paint-and-Sip” Night
Most art classes have 20 people painting the exact same flower step-by-step. That’s fun, but it doesn’t teach you how to paint your ideas.
Here, you bring your own reference photo or landscape inspiration, and I show you step-by-step how to break it down, mix the exact colours you need, and build depth layer by layer.
- Small Group (Max 12 Students): You’ll never feel lost or left to fend for yourself. Plenty of 1-on-1 feedback every single week.
- Zero Stress Environment: Acrylics are the most forgiving medium on the planet! Made a mistake? We let it dry for ten minutes and paint right over it. Simple as that.
- Real Skill Progression: Over 6 weeks, we dive past basic line work into light, atmosphere, texture, and color mixing secrets so you walk away with real, reusable skills.

What to Bring With You
For Everyone:
- A sketchbook and pencil/charcoal for quick planning layouts
- An apron or old clothes you don’t mind getting a splash of paint on!
For BYOM Students:
- Your preferred brushes and acrylic (or oil*) paints. (Windsor & Newton recommended)
- Canvas or canvas board for your main piece + painting paper for practice/tests.
- Note for oil painters: Zest-it or odourless solvents only, please!
